Have you ever been in an abusive relationship? I have not myself, well I did date a girl who was emotionally abusive, but not physical. Still bad, but we broke up fast, so it wasn't a big deal for me. Anyway, have you ever been in an abusive relationship? If you're not comfortable talking about this, I totally understand. If you are comfortable to talk about it, do feel free to discuss how you dealt with it, and any other things you'd like to say. No pressure, and no judgement.

Emotionally, yes but not physically. I have a friend who was in an abusive relationship though, one that was physical. She hid it fairly well but I ended up being there to witness him hit her and I got in his face and threatened him. She filed a restraining order the following week. I was happy to have convinced her to leave. He was a real POS person.

I had an ex slap me once. Right after he did it he freaked out and started crying. We broke up a week later. I think he was scared of becoming his father and I was too scared to think of it getting worse. We ended it on good terms. That was all I experienced.

I have no experiences here. If I was ever with someone who so much as threatened me, I would leave him. My mother was abused by her first husband and the stories she told me had me make sure to never be trapped like she was.

I know several people who have been abused. Similar to Stacey, my mother was one. My aunt (her sister) was also abused. I feel like 30 to 40 years ago, it was somehow more acceptable or people just didn't care enough.
