Are you having a hard time hiring people?

With the pandemic close to hopefully ending, it is starting to result in people going back to their jobs. But, the US has a problem where many people who previously worked, aren't going back to work yet. If you run a business, have you had any issues hiring people? I see signs all over my town for job openings. But I also heard that was a scam to make it look like they need people. But I don't know if that's true.

Anyway, are people staying home yet because of covid?

We have had help wanted ads up for about 6 months now for a front line convenience store team member. Do not get applications like we used to. Our starting wage is pretty low though and fast food and others around us have really stepped up their hourly rates and sign on bonuses (looks like they are having trouble finding people too).

We were just out on vacation in a tourist town and a lot of companies and limited availability and they blamed that on having a hard time to hire people. The local McDonalds in that town is starting people at $17 an hour!

It seems the cost of labor is going up quickly but I think we are starting to see inflation pickup faster then expected. Companies can of course pay their team members more but the cost of everything they sell will need to come up to help match the new wages.

I see help wanted signs everywhere. I don't run a business but I know almost every business around here can't keep their workers. I think some of them are still collecting unemployment and others are refusing to work due to vaccine mandates. I think the latter is the bigger issue but the media doesn't want you to think that.

Same in my area. All the chain stores and even schools seeking out bus drivers! My husband is considering doing bus driving part time for one of our schools since they seem to pay decent.

The local McDonalds here is paying pretty good wages currently, and so are some other fast food joints. They know tons of people go to these fast food joints, so they're going to start paying their employees more. And thank goodness, that's awesome that they are being paid a lot more now. I hear walmart is even paying people good now.

The one down the road from where I am is paying $13 an hour to start and you get a $1,000 sign on bonus (after working for 60 days). They are allowing 14 year olds to work here as well. Imagine being $14 making $13 an hour! I was lucky to make over $8 when I was 16.
