Scarlett
I was talking to a group of people on another forum, mostly women in their late 20s and early 30s. Never had children and are on the fence about having them. When I talked to them, about the subject, I was expecting most of them to say that cost was the issue and the reason they may not want them but shockingly enough, most of them do want kids... They just don't want to fail as a parent or end up being a single parent. For most, it was an issue of fear. I know cost factors in for all women when it comes to raising a family but it seems like things are switching from an issue of income to an issue of mental and emotional capacity to raise a healthy child. Stacey
I think it is both but it is fair to say that fear factors in for some. I know fear of pregnancy/childbirth is a phobia or fear that hinders women as well. I had a friend whose sister had this issue. She was so scared of becoming pregnant, she didn't even want to have intercourse with a man, even with a condom on. So there is that. Money is an issue thought right now for millions of young adults. It can be scary not knowing if you will be able to provide for your kids.
Emma
I think we already had a topic similar to this on here. Needless to say, most agreed it factored down to both not just one or the other. It is expensive to have children and as Stacey mentioned, millions of young adults have financial issues.
