Failure is part of the journey.

Recommended Posts

In this video from Motivation District, viewers learn about tools to motivate themselves when times are tough. Every single one of us have had days where we want to drop everything and run away. Whether our projects, training, or relationships just don’t seem to be going right, it is easy to think of quitting and moving on. While it is important to recognize and digest stressful situations, that does not mean we should simply throw away these opportunities. Because hardships are inevitable, we must develop the mental fortitude to persevere. We must learn to motivate ourselves, even in the face of adversity.

Failure is inevitable, but it is not life-ending. Failing provides an opportunity to learn from our mistakes. In the scope of taking on a large project - whether its a new training program, assignment at work, or relationship - the beginning of this project is exciting. At the beginning, we are inspired and hopeful for this project to flourish and succeed. However, as we proceed with the project, we start to understand the responsibilities that come along with this project. At this point, self-doubt and fear of failure can start to set in. The fear of failure stops many of us from progressing. Failure is inevitable, but through failure, we garner a better understanding of how much we are capable of.

Effort in our actions also propels us forward. Continuing with the project analogy discussed above, things will not always go as planned. Because of this, we must control how we react to stressful situations and work continuously to remediate these situations to move forward. Motivation to do so is often hard to attain. The narrator offers some exercises to readjust our focus and rekindle our passions for the project. The narrator suggests writing down our goals and the steps to achieve them and start to visualize not only how we will reach our goals but how we will feel once they are met. Doing so will help us move forward. Failure is part of our journeys to success. Progress may be slow, but at the end of the day, progress is progress.
